After the conclusion of the last presidential finalist visit at Western Wyoming Community College on Tuesday, the college’s trustees are gearing up to deliberate on extending a job offer.
A special meeting has been scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in Room 3060, with the sole agenda item being “consideration and possible action to extend an offer of employment to a candidate for the new president.” The meeting will include an executive session.
While the public presentations by the candidates occurred in the morning, the finalists engaged in meetings with college faculty and students, as well as tours of the college and Rock Springs, throughout the day. The day concluded with a discussion and dinner with the board of trustees in the evening.
“We get them when they’re tired,” remarked board member Neil Kourbelas.
The last two finalists, Angela McLean and Kirk Young, visited the college earlier this week. McLean, currently serving as the director of American Indian and Minority Achievement and K-12 Partnerships for the Montana University System Office of the Commissioner of Higher Education, emphasized her commitment to community-focused education and workforce development initiatives during her presentation.
Meanwhile, Young, the vice president of student affairs at Jamestown Community College in New York, highlighted the importance of leveraging partnerships with industries and addressing workforce needs through innovative programs.
As the trustees convene to deliberate on the candidates, the decision made during the upcoming special meeting will shape the future leadership of Western Wyoming Community College.
