It seems that the Bride Parish Commissioners are stepping up to organize a waste collection service for residents after the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture (DEFA) terminated its arrangement with Birchalls. This termination has left residents of the parish without access to the Northern Civic Amenity Site.
Previously, residents were advised to take their refuse to Birchalls free of charge, but now that agreement has ended. The Bride Parish Commissioners expressed regret that DEFA did not apply the same level of scrutiny to the management of the Civic Amenity site, citing concerns such as operating without a contract for four years.
The authority has stated that more details about the waste collection service will be provided shortly. It appears that Manx Radio has reached out to DEFA for comment, but their response is not yet available.
