Lions Sign Goff to Four-Year, $212 Million Contract Extension

The Detroit Lions have made a significant move by signing quarterback Jared Goff to a lucrative four-year, $212 million contract extension, with a staggering $170 million guaranteed, according to reports.

Goff, a former No. 1 overall pick, now holds the title of the highest-paid player in franchise history.

With an annual salary of $53 million, Goff secures the position as the second-highest paid quarterback on a per-year basis, trailing only Cincinnati Bengals’ Joe Burrow ($55M), and surpassing Los Angeles Chargers’ signal caller Justin Herbert ($52.5M).

In the previous season, the 29-year-old quarterback demonstrated his prowess by passing for 4,575 yards, recording 30 touchdowns, and tallying 12 interceptions, leading the Lions to the NFC Championship game.

Goff boasts an impressive resume, with three Pro-Bowl selections and a career stat line of 30,290 yards, 185 touchdowns, and 82 interceptions over his eight-year tenure with the Lions and Los Angeles Rams.

Since joining the Lions via trade from the Rams as part of the Matthew Stafford deal, Goff has maintained solid performance levels, averaging 4,086 yards and 26 touchdowns per season in Detroit. Under his leadership, the team has garnered a 24-23-1 record with him as the starting quarterback.
