NFI Group Secures Contract with NJ Transit for up to 1,300 Transit Buses

NFI Group Inc. has announced its success in securing a contract with New Jersey Transit Corp. for the procurement of up to 1,300 Xcelsior transit buses. The initial firm order comprises 175 buses, with an option to acquire an additional 1,125 buses.

Although financial details of the agreement have not been disclosed, NFI indicates that the newly ordered buses will replace aging units in NJ Transit’s existing fleet.

NJ Transit, a comprehensive public transit system serving New Jersey as well as providing connectivity to New York City, Philadelphia, and adjacent areas, will benefit from the enhanced features of the Xcelsior buses. Chris Stoddart, NFI’s president of North American bus and coach, highlights the advanced attributes of these buses, which boast improved efficiency, reduced noise levels, and enhanced safety and accessibility features compared to previous models.
