All three athletes were integral members of the Eels’ SG Ball Grand Final-winning team in 2023. Their extensions reflect their development within the club, with Guymer and Penisini advancing to the Top 30 roster for the 2026 season while continuing in the development squad for 2025.

Mark O’Neill, General Manager of Football for the Eels, expressed his excitement about the players’ progress. “It’s wonderful to see our players coming through the pathways program and being rewarded for their hard work and talent,” he stated. O’Neill added that he looks forward to their growth in the NRL under the mentorship of Head Coach Jason Ryles.

Charlie Guymer, who rapidly ascended through the Eels Pathways system, captained the SG Ball team in 2023 and was subsequently selected for the Under 19’s NSW Origin team. After spending most of the 2024 season in the NSW Cup, he made a notable debut in first grade earlier this year. O’Neill praised Guymer’s leadership qualities, saying, “We have no doubt he will thrive during pre-season training and be ready to play more NRL games next year.”

Saxon Pryke has been with the Eels since 2019, progressing from development squads to the Harold Matthews, where he won the Best and Fairest award, and onto the SG Ball championship team. Primarily playing as a lock forward, he was named the Jersey Flegg Cup Player of the Year at the club’s annual Ken Thornett Medal ceremony. “Saxon has been a standout player in the Jersey Flegg team,” O’Neill noted, highlighting his opportunity to develop further in a high-performance environment.

Richard Penisini showcased his potential during an impressive 2023 season, participating in SG Ball, Jersey Flegg, and making his New South Wales Cup debut. After recovering from a season-ending injury, he is set to train alongside his brother Will and the top squad in November. O’Neill commented, “Richard is a talented young player who has worked hard on his rehab journey and is now fully fit and ready to tackle the new year head-on.”

With these extensions, the Parramatta Eels are clearly investing in their future, reinforcing their commitment to nurturing young talent within their ranks.
