Vice President Kamala Harris’ transition team is made up of experienced professionals from both her career in government and President Joe Biden’s White House. The team is preparing for the possibility of a Harris-Walz administration and will need to fill around 4,000 positions.
Leading Harris’ team is Yohannes Abraham, who previously served as ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and played a key role in Biden’s transition to the White House. Abraham also held multiple roles in the Obama administration.
Dana Remus, who served as Biden’s first White House general counsel and helped confirm Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to the US Supreme Court, is also part of the team. She set records for confirming federal judges with a variety of professional experiences and is a former professor specializing in legal ethics.
Rachel Palermo, Harris’ former deputy communications director and associate counsel in the Biden White House, is also on the team. She guided the vice president’s media strategy after the Supreme Court struck down the federal right to abortion in 2022.
Josh Hsu, who led judicial nominations for Biden’s transition and ran the policy team on Harris’ first presidential campaign, brings years of experience in selecting and confirming judges for the federal bench to the team.
The team also includes Erica Songer and Gabriela Cristobal, both staff in Harris’ vice presidential office. Songer is a former partner at Hogan Lovells and served as senior counsel on Biden’s transition, while Cristobal worked at the Democratic National Committee before joining the White House.
These experienced professionals will be instrumental in helping a potential Harris-Walz administration transition smoothly and efficiently.
