Law firm King & Spalding announced on Wednesday that it has hired Lauren Roth, the former head of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) policy office, as a partner in its Washington, D.C. office. Roth, who has held multiple roles within the FDA, most recently served as the agency’s associate commissioner for policy.
Roth’s extensive experience at the FDA across several administrations makes her a valuable addition to King & Spalding’s team, particularly in helping clients in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries navigate complex regulatory challenges. Nikki Reeves, co-leader of the firm’s government matters and regulation practice, praised Roth’s expertise, noting her ability to provide high-level support to the firm’s clients.
Roth’s hire is the latest in a series of new additions to King & Spalding, as the firm continues to bring in top talent from government positions. This follows the trend of many lawyers transitioning from public service to private practice ahead of the transition to the Trump administration. Earlier this week, King & Spalding also hired Nema Milaninia, a former senior adviser at the U.S. State Department, and Ryan Majerus, who previously worked at the U.S. Commerce Department overseeing antidumping and countervailing duties enforcement.
Both Roth and Majerus will be partners in the firm’s government matters and regulation practice, while Milaninia will join the special matters and government investigations practice. The firm has long been known for its strong roster of former government officials, including Rod Rosenstein, the former Deputy U.S. Attorney General under President Trump, and Sally Yates, the former U.S. Attorney General under President Obama.
