New law expands mental health transportation services in Oklahoma

A new law is allowing the Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services to expand mental health crisis transportation services to transport people experiencing behavioral health issues, rather than law enforcement.

With the passage of Senate Bill 12 in special session, there are now fewer restrictions and more funding dedicated to crisis transportation, to not only help Oklahomans experiencing mental health crises but also law enforcement in the state.
