DES MOINES, Iowa – A law firm is contacting people who may have been sexually abused by a Des Moines-area doctor.
Pintas & Mullins Law Firm is a personal injury law firm based in Chicago, a company spokesperson told KCCI. While they handle a number of different cases, nursing home abuse and sexual abuse cases are the ones they work with the most nationwide.
“We see about two to three cases a week of doctors abusing their patients,” said William Marks, a spokesman for Pintas & Mullins.
Marks told KCCI that last week the firm placed advertisements on social media looking for anyone who may have been a victim of Dr Lynn Lindaman, who is accused of sexually abusing a child. Lindaman was arrested in June and is in the Polk County Jail awaiting trial next year.
“We’ve already started getting calls and we’re in the process of investigating them,” Marks said.
Marks says the Pintas & Mullins team learned about Lindaman from previous KCCI reports.
Soon after, Marks says, the team set up a website for anyone who may have been abused. The website includes a list of “sexual abuse behaviours” that the team hopes will help people identify if they may have been sexually abused.
“That’s one of the things we are trying to do in terms of outreach,” Marks said. “Helping people come forward, because that’s the hardest step.”
