Qatar Charity has signed an agreement with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Yemen to implement a project to improve access to education and reduce dropout rates in Ibb Governorate. The project is expected to benefit thousands of students and teachers.
Objectives of the agreement
This agreement aims to rehabilitate schools damaged by the conflict and provide them with all the necessary facilities, in addition to providing school supplies for students and financial incentives for teachers, which will help to continue the educational process and eliminate illiteracy, as well as reduce the dropout rate of male and female students and increase the chances of completing their education.
Through the implementation of this project, Qatar Charity also aims to provide long-term educational opportunities for approximately 3,000 displaced students and residents of the region.
These students will also be given access to permanent and safe learning opportunities by supporting 5 schools in the Al-Udayn neighbourhoods through the construction, rehabilitation and furnishing of classrooms.
Psychological support
The agreement includes psychological support for students who suffer from psychological problems for a variety of reasons, including early employment and dropping out of school.
Social service specialists will conduct interviews with children in the targeted schools to provide psychological and social support to the children, raise awareness and train teachers on methods of continuous psychological support for these children living in psychological conditions.
