Pets now regulated in Mongolia

MONGOLIA – The Draft Law on Domestic Animals, which regulates relations related to public health protection, registration, guardianship, temporary care, breeding, protection from violence and reduction of the number of stray animals, was approved at today’s session of the Parliament. Thus, Mongolia has a law on domestic animals. As a result, citizens have the rights and responsibilities of pet guardians. For example:

The legal guardian must be 18 years old and have full legal capacity;

The legal guardian must have a source of income to provide food and shelter for a pet, cover health care and services, and have attended dog and cat guardian training;

The pet must have appropriate equipment such as a collar, muzzle and bag when travelling in public;

The legal guardian must take care of the pet’s offspring;
