17-year-old escaped convict returned by parents

Authorities in Franklin, Louisiana, have reported that a juvenile who had escaped from the Office of Juvenile Justice (OJJ) custody was returned to law enforcement by his parents on Sunday, February 4th.

According to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, 17-year-old Kimmy Dauntain Jr., hailing from Orleans Parish, had fled from OJJ custody while on a supervised outing in Franklin at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 2nd.

The OJJ confirmed that the teen’s parents surrendered him to Louisiana State Police in Kenner around 10:35 a.m. on Sunday.

Law enforcement officials disclosed that Dauntain faces multiple charges, including simple battery, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, attempted first-degree murder, and attempted second-degree murder.

Following his escape, Dauntain had been listed in the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database.
