Law enforcement agencies in Las Vegas, including the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, joined forces with Special Olympics Nevada for the ‘Cover the Cruiser’ fundraising initiative.
At various Walmart locations across the valley, participating agencies displayed their cruisers and encouraged community members to contribute to the cause. For a $5 donation, individuals could write their names on an icon, which was then affixed to one of the cruisers.
All proceeds generated from Saturday’s event will directly support the athletes and programs of Special Olympics Nevada.
Jezz Medina-Manning, representing Special Olympics Nevada, highlighted the organization’s commitment to fostering inclusive opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. She emphasized that every contribution made during the fundraiser helps advance this mission and advocates for inclusivity.
The upcoming fundraising event on the group’s agenda is the annual Polar Plunge at Cowabunga Bay, scheduled for April 13th.
