The Parentage Law Reform Project Committee of the British Columbia Law Institute (BCLI) has recently released its “Consultation Paper on Part 3 of the Family Law Act,” featuring significant contributions from Jeannette Aucoin, a partner at Clark Wilson Family Law.
Part 3 of the Family Law Act establishes the criteria for determining parentage in British Columbia and represents the most comprehensive legal framework for parentage in the province’s legislation. Enacted over a decade ago, the Family Law Act is now undergoing a thorough review of Part 3, offering 34 detailed policy proposals and recommendations for reform.
The consultation paper aims to solicit feedback from the public on the proposed recommendations for parentage law reform. Interested parties can review the full “Consultation Paper on Part 3 of the Family Law Act” and participate in the discussion by submitting feedback before March 31, 2024.
