Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has addressed the recent allegations by the Opposition regarding the targeting of their leaders by central agencies, stating that both the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) are adhering to the rule of law.
Responding to concerns raised by the Opposition, Meghwal emphasized that the ED and CBI were established during the Congress regime, and their actions are conducted within the framework of legal protocols. He underscored the importance of upholding the rule of law in all proceedings.
Meghwal made these remarks during a conference hosted by the law ministry on three new criminal laws. Speaking directly to the directors of the ED and CBI in attendance, he reiterated his confidence in their commitment to lawful practices.
The minister’s comments follow the recent arrests of Opposition leaders by the ED, including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, which sparked protests and allegations of political targeting. The Trinamool Congress has sought the intervention of the Election Commission to replace the heads of central agencies, including the ED and CBI, amid the ongoing controversy.
