Iran Slams Us Airstrikes On Yemen As War Crimes, Urges Global Action

by Celia

Iran has strongly condemned the recent U.S. airstrikes on Yemen, calling them a flagrant violation of international law and the principles enshrined in the United Nations Charter. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei described the airstrikes as “a gross violation of international humanitarian law,” adding that such actions constitute “war crimes.”

These military actions, which have been ongoing for nearly a year, have sparked widespread outrage. Baghaei emphasized that the strikes not only undermine Yemen’s sovereignty but also infringe upon the rights of the Yemeni people in their struggle for self-determination.

Highlighting the solidarity between the Yemeni people and Palestinians, Baghaei praised Yemen’s unwavering support for the oppressed, noting that the Yemeni people’s actions are rooted in their commitment to opposing occupation and genocide. This stance is particularly significant given the ongoing crisis in Gaza, where the Israeli military’s operations have caused widespread destruction and loss of life.

In light of the ongoing airstrikes, the Iranian official called on the global community, including Muslim nations, regional countries, and the United Nations, to take swift and decisive action. The U.S., Britain, and Israel, Baghaei argued, should be held accountable for their role in the aggression against Yemen, as their actions exacerbate the region’s humanitarian crisis.

Yemeni officials have also echoed similar concerns. Yemen’s foreign minister has held the supporters of the Israeli regime—particularly the U.S. and Britain—responsible for the continued military aggression. This includes the U.S. and British-led air raids on Yemen, which were launched as retaliation for Yemen’s maritime campaign in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.

The humanitarian toll of the conflict in Gaza is staggering, with reports from the Gaza Health Ministry indicating that over 45,000 Palestinians have been killed, and more than 107,000 have been injured as a result of the Israeli military’s operations. These numbers highlight the devastating consequences of the ongoing hostilities.

The situation in Yemen remains dire, with escalating tensions and a continued lack of meaningful international intervention. As the world watches, Iran has called for a united effort to hold accountable those who perpetuate this cycle of violence, ensuring that justice is served and the rights of the Yemeni and Palestinian peoples are defended.
