Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon confirmed on Wednesday that Arm Holdings has retracted its threat to terminate Qualcomm’s license agreement. This comes after a dispute involving the technology behind Qualcomm’s personal computer chips.
In October, Arm had warned Qualcomm that it might cancel the license. However, Amon stated that Arm has since withdrawn this notice. “Arm recently notified us that it was withdrawing its October 22, 2024 notice of breach, and indicated that it has no current plans to terminate the Qualcomm architecture license agreement,” Amon told analysts during a conference call discussing the company’s first-quarter results.
The ongoing legal battle between Qualcomm and Arm reached a milestone in December when Qualcomm won important parts of a trial. A jury concluded that Qualcomm’s computer chips are properly licensed under the agreement with Arm. However, the jury was unable to reach a unanimous verdict on other matters, and Arm has requested a new trial.
