Nokia and Amazon have reached a settlement in their global patent dispute. The agreement resolves all patent-related lawsuits between the two companies, including a countersuit filed by Amazon in the U.S. over cloud computing patents. The terms of the settlement remain confidential.
In 2023, Nokia initiated legal action against Amazon in several countries, including the U.S., Germany, India, the UK, and at the European Unified Patent Court. Nokia alleged that Amazon used its video streaming technology without permission, enhancing the quality of Amazon’s Prime Video and Twitch services.
Amazon had also filed a lawsuit against Nokia in Delaware, claiming that Nokia used Amazon Web Services (AWS) technology without proper licensing. However, a German court ruled that Amazon had indeed misused Nokia’s technology, though Amazon stated that this would not affect its Prime Video users in Germany.
Amazon confirmed that a multi-year patent agreement has been established between the two companies.
