Six-week abortion ban soon to be law, but faces legal challenge

A six-week abortion ban is on its way to the governor’s desk after the Senate approved the measure Tuesday evening.

It includes exceptions for fatal fetal anomalies, the mother’s life and rape and incest up to 12 weeks.

It comes after neighboring states have implemented restrictions of their own.

Republicans argue that as a result, South Carolina is becoming an abortion destination citing a sharp increase in out-of-state procedures.
