Georgetown Law has added five new professors to its faculty, including Kristelia García, a specialist in intellectual property law with a background in the music industry. The other faculty members, Michele Bratcher Goodwin, Llezlie Green, Aisha Saad, and Gregory Shaffer, bring expertise in various areas of law, including constitutional law, corporate governance, and international trade law.
These new faculty members underwent a comprehensive hiring process, with four of them being lateral hires—scholars with distinguished records from other law schools—and one being an entry-level hire with significant practice and academic experience.
Professor García expressed excitement about joining Georgetown Law, citing the dedicated students and faculty and the institution’s location in Washington, D.C., where policy decisions are made. She plans to explore new areas of intellectual property law, such as the intersection of copyright and antitrust law.
Professor Shaffer, a Scott K. Ginsburg Professor of International Law, specializes in international trade law and has extensive experience practicing law in Europe. He aims to enhance the opportunities Georgetown Law offers its students, given the school’s strong international law tradition and diverse student body.
Georgetown Law also looks forward to leveraging the expertise of its other new faculty members, including Professor Green, who will launch a Civil Justice Clinic to represent low-income clients in civil matters.
These additions to the faculty are expected to enrich the academic and practical experiences of Georgetown Law students and contribute to the institution’s reputation for excellence in legal education.
