Roach, who is known as an “image architect” and one of the few Black stylists in Hollywood, took on the role of creative director for the collection. Despite announcing his retirement earlier this year, Roach’s star power continues to shine brightly.

In March, Roach surprised the fashion industry with an Instagram post in which he declared his retirement due to feeling drained by the “politics and lies” of celebrity styling. However, he has since returned selectively, focusing on projects that truly inspire him.

The collection unveiled during New York Fashion Week featured chic and glamorous styles, a hallmark of Roach’s work with clients like Zendaya. Roach’s impact on red carpet fashion is well-known, having styled celebrities such as Ariana Grande, Celine Dion, and Megan Thee Stallion.

As creative director, Roach not only contributed to the collection but also graced the runway himself, wearing a red pleated skirt, a white button-up shirt, and a dupatta over his shoulder. He added a unique touch with Air Jordans, displaying his personal style.

Falguni Peacock credited Roach with infusing the collection with a “cool girl” vibe. The husband-and-wife designers returned to New York Fashion Week after eight years, showcasing their “2.0” collection and the reinvention of their brand. Falguni Shane Peacock’s designs have recently gained attention, with Sarah Jessica Parker wearing one of their outfits on “And Just Like That.”

The runway show featured versatile looks suitable for various occasions, from gray sweatpants paired with a shimmery silver beaded blazer to an oversized gray sweatshirt matched with a bubblegum pink feathered skirt or embroidered sheer bottoms.

Roach drew inspiration from a trip to Mumbai for the collection, highlighting the unparalleled skills of Indian artisans and their significant influence on the fashion industry.

The final look of the show featured a model in sweatpants and a jewel-encrusted breastplate, walking barefoot, showcasing a bold and carefree style.

Since his retirement announcement, Roach has continued to remain connected to the fashion world. He modeled in a show for Hugo Boss shortly after his retirement post and continues to work as a stylist for Zendaya, whom he considers family. However, he now prioritizes his well-being and focuses on projects that bring him happiness.

Roach’s journey in fashion began with collecting women’s vintage clothing and later opening a store in Chicago frequented by Kanye West. He rose to prominence as a celebrity stylist, transforming Zendaya into a style icon and collaborating on fashion collections. Roach has also appeared as a judge on shows like HBO Max’s “Legendary” and “America’s Next Top Model.”

Despite his surprise retirement, Roach received overwhelming support from the fashion industry, and his return to New York Fashion Week garnered attention and admiration from fellow celebrities and fashion enthusiasts.
