Bogotá, September 25, 2023 – Todd D. Robinson, Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), is set to embark on a crucial diplomatic mission to Colombia from September 25 to 28. During his visit, he will play a pivotal role in co-leading the U.S. delegation alongside Deputy Director Adam Cohen from the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) for the U.S.-Colombia Counternarcotics Working Group (CNWG). This mission underscores the strong commitment of both nations to combatting narcotics-related challenges.
The visit will also feature high-level meetings with Colombian officials and partners, marking a significant effort to bolster collaboration in counternarcotics initiatives. On September 25 and 26, Assistant Secretary Robinson, Deputy Director Cohen, and Marcela Escobari, Assistant Administrator for the USAID Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean, alongside other officials, will convene with the CNWG in Bogotá. The discussions will revolve around shared counternarcotics challenges and explore opportunities for enhanced cooperation with Colombian counterparts.
Subsequently, on September 27 and 28, Assistant Secretary Robinson will personally inspect INL programs in Colombia. These programs are strategically designed to support Colombian endeavors in reducing drug production and trafficking, combatting environmental crimes such as illegal mining, and reinforcing the foundations of the rule of law and human rights.
The visit by Assistant Secretary Robinson and the U.S. delegation reaffirms the enduring partnership between the United States and Colombia in addressing critical issues related to narcotics control and security.
